Isuzu Announces Top Trucks of 2022: Meet The Ones Who Made It To The List

January 23, 2023

Heavy vehicle brand Isuzu Trucks has turned the spotlight on its customers by announcing Truck of the Year winners across a range of vehicle categories.

The 2022 gong for overall best truck in the annual Isuzu Truck of the Year awards has gone to an Adelaide crane hire business, Craneworx.

The Craneworx truck was among a swag of entries for the annual competition which saw the Isuzu judging panel hard at work over the Christmas break deciding which entrants would be named number one in each different model section, and Truck of the Year and the 2022 Grand Prize winner.

Last year was the 25th anniversary of the Truck of the Year competition, as well as the year Isuzu Australia Limited celebrated its 50th year of trading trucks in Australia. To mark these milestones a special Heritage truck category was created to celebrate Isuzu truck owners who have been with the brand from the beginning.

The Truck of the Year competition pays tribute to hardworking Australian businesses who pilot and own Isuzu trucks and of course the truck drivers on the road day in day out rain, hail or shine.

Isuzu’s Truck of the Year competition awards a prize to one winner per model Series, selected from a pool of monthly winners throughout the calendar year.

Each series winner receives a pre-paid $1,000 VISA cash card to use as they see fit.

The N Series winner went to Lachlan and Savannah Gregory of Gregory Plumbing and Excavation, who took top honours with their NPR 65-190 Tipper.

Luke Hinrichs and New Wave Concreting won the F Series competition with its FRR 107-210 Tipper.

City Coast Services’ FXZ 240-350 won the FX Series winner, while Daniel Lockwood of Craneworx took home the FY Series prize with his FYJ 300-350.

Rowan Leen Demolitions secured the prize for the heritage truck category with its 1985 Isuzu JCR Tipper.

The 2022 Truck of the Year grand prize went to Craneworx for its FYJ 300-350.

"It’s the Swiss Army knife of trucks," Lockwood says of his FYJ 300-350, which he claims is a vital part of the Craneworx operation.

Craneworx is a crane and rigging hire business based in Adelaide that offers a range of services covering crane hire and rigging steel erection and constructions, not to mention relocations and installations.

Lockwood’s 2021 FYJ 300-350 model has a GVM of 30,000 kilograms and a GCM 45,000 kilograms meaning that Craneworx will never have to worry about being overloaded or unable to get their Hyva loader crane from A to B.

For the People’s Choice winner, YP Rimshine and its NLR 45-150 received the most votes by far.
